Hey all! Any idea why my Easter egger would lay this peewee egg after laying normally for the past year (other than not laying at all during molting/times of stress...)? And she hasn't layed anything since this one (about 4-5 days ago)-she's generally an egg every other day kinda girl (and...
Everytime I go out to the coop and one of my girls has gone into a molt I come back into the house and tell my husband "One of the chickens exploded again!" He instantly knows what I mean....
I don't see how they have any feathers left there are so many scattered about! I have an Easter Egger...

Are Orpingtons as broody as I hear? I would LOVE a blue Orp, but I don't want to have to deal with a broody girl all the time. (We aren't allowed roosters within city limits, so I won't be hatching any eggs....) Orps have the absolute BEST fluffy butts!!!
The favorite chicken I've had so far was a Silver Laced Wyandotte, she was super friendly, layed almost daily, in the year and a half I had her she never went broody, and she was beautiful! We just lost her about a month ago to a raccoon (I think) and the flock just isn't the same without her...
Oh my gosh, your rooster is FABULOUS!!! I have never seen such and amazing head of feathers on one chicken!!! He is absolutely gorgeous! Make some babies with that one ASAP! (What is he, by the way?? His frizzle is beautiful, but what KIND of frizzle is he??)
Name: Bob
Breed: Silver Laced Wyandotte
Age: 16 months
Laying: My best layer, layed beautiful little brown eggs nearly every day
Died from: Predator attack....probably raccoon
She was my favorite hen, would run up to the gate for pets and was the friendliest of the bunch....and oh so pretty too...

We're South of you, down near Beaver Lake, so that puts us dab smack in the middle of all these bobcats.....Makes me wonder if it was a bobcat that got my hen instead of a racoon, but I doubt a bobcat would have been able to stop at just one and would have instead killed all...
I am so sorry to hear about you losing your Buff, it sucks so bad to lose any animals, but to watch it back on video had to be torture! Which part of Sammamish do you live in? I just saw a bobcat in Sammamish/Issaquah for the first time last week, it ran across Issaquah-Pine Lake road right by...
