Unfortunately I got news this morning that it had died
They put it right in with the new ducklings and they all seemed to be doing fine. Then yesterday the loner started seeming tired and not walking well, they said it would walk a few steps then seem tired and sit down. They tried extra niacin...
I would love to hear more about what you did because you were obviously much more successful than I was! Although I had Indian Runners...
@WVduckchick the loner is still doing okay. Still awfully skittish, but he goes to live with the other ducklings tomorrow, so I hope that will be really good!
Okay, thanks!
I think I will have it be raised with ducklings, since that is the preference of the woman who will take the adult duck anyway.
So even if these ducklings are just a few days old, they need to have a barrier between them at first?
Can you explain a process for how long to keep...
I did put a stuffed animal. It doesn't seem interested in it. Still working on finding a mirror.
I now have two options for when it leaves my classroom this week:
1. Give it back to the woman who gave me the eggs, who only has adult ducks. She will raise it in a brooder and then introduce it...
I didn't have a pipped one, that was Hatching Teacher.
Ok. I can't really remember what the liquid one looked like at lockdown, but I do think it looked less developed than the others.
Should I throw out the eggs?
I am feeding chick starter with nutritional yeast on top.

I candled them this morning and the air cells were all bigger than when I marked them on day 25 but none looked drawn down, and I didn't see any movement in the eggs anymore except when I would turn them over and around :'(
One of the...

Okay, thanks. He does move around and chirp when I clean the brooder or add more water...when he gets scared he bustles around. I just wish I could've caught him in the act of eating today--that would've made me feel better.
Thanks so much for the suggestion of the old sock stuffed with...
I haven’t been able to see the loner eat today. He has been pooping normally, but whenever I go in to check on him he sits in the corner looking like he’s about to fall asleep but then he continuously jerks awake...or a least that’s what it looks like is happening. He also opens and closes his...
I really hope so!! I would hate to lose them so late in the process. I hope I didn't mess them up by opening the incubator those few times (to take out the duckling, to candle, to add water..)
Ok! Thanks. I hope the others will hatch! I haven't heard any noises coming from the incubator. I also never saw any rocking or rolling, only movement when I candled
