anyone know what these plaques on my drake’s bill are? it’s not mud, it can’t be dislodged. if no biggie, great, i was just worried it could be fungus or something
oh no! i’m so sorry, i hope he comes back, it seems like it is certainly a good possibility, though.
i don’t know if this is the right time to suggest this so i apologize if it feels not good: we have for this very reason chosen non-flying breeds (black & blue swedish, cayuga), that is...
any practical ideas on gout in my hen? she is 5 years old. the vet recommended low protein food but i am not sure how that can happen when i have 21 other chickens. we could give her meloxicam, but she actually doesn’t appear to be in pain so not sure if this would be helpful.

i took her to the vet this am & i made the decision to put her down.
i noticed last evening after posting that her abdomen was distended & hard, either egg bound or something more chronic. i gave her warm bath & hoped she’d look perkier today but she didn’t, just worse. i took her this am b/c...

at 3pm in the afternoon. she will not eat but is drinking a ton, when i pick her up & massage her crop the water comes...

you are a good chicken mother worrying about her comfort, she’s lucky you are looking out for her.
maybe some meloxicam from vet or aspirin in her water to help the inflammation? my duck is having walking problems & i brought her to the vet. would not recommend that unless they know about ducks which this one doesn’t. good luck, i hope your baby is better soon!
please help guys! i’m at vet & pippi is breathing fast. did i give her too much aspirin? i gave her 81mg about 3 hours ago. she was eating & drinking fine & now is very stressed, vet does not seem to know what is going on. gave pippi sedation & she calmed right down. i just want to take her...
