    OK gave up..not one egg was fertile! really weird because it's one rooster and 2 hens, the last 2 years their eggs have had a really good hatching rate. One hen hatched 10 out of 11 eggs last year...rooster is 3, maybe he shoots blanks now!! lol

    thanks..its day 25..2 of the 3 hens stay put! The 3rd is in and out...guess I should just pull the eggs, wait a few days and give them fresh if they still want to sit. I have had a better hatch rate with the hens...I too did the incubator. I like the hens doing all the work! lol

    what is the longest eggs have taken to hatch under a hen? I have 3 hens that have been taking turns on the nest of 9 eggs. this is day 22 and no action yet! How long should I wait?? any advise please! Thanks!

    anyone ever successfully help an egg bound hen? Been trying to help her get the egg out...but no luck! Have soaked her in warm water lubed her and given her calcium ...please really don't want to loose her! Help

    What care do I give the chicks after hatching?

    I did a lot of incubating last year. I had a good survival rate. occasionally I would find one dead. I think it can happen even when hatched by a hen. This year I had a lot of hens go broody so didn't use the incubator. I had 3 hens hatch 4 chicks each and all lived! They are about 3 months old...

    Well I read that they rarely go broody...so never worried about not collecting eggs daily! My flock of polish are 2 years old...so you can imagine my surprise when I went to collect eggs and one of the hens went broody and is on 11 eggs! So guess I'll be getting a bunch of polish chicks!

    does anyone know if you can mix hens and their chicks? I have hens co raising a clutch of 8 chicks. Now in the same enclosure another hens chicks just hatched. Can they all be together? Or will hens hurt the other hens new chicks? They do have their own nestsin the same enclosure.

    How long can your eggs sit out before putting them in the incubator?

    Ok I found it...It's about 2/3rds down this page the name of the thread is"how old was the oldest eggs you ever hatched" It was started on 4/1/13 but someone commented on it today. And someone had babies hatch out of 4 week old eggs. a lot had a good hatch rate out of 2 week old eggs. Good luck...
