I haven't tried this, but saw them all around when I was in Corpus Christi, TX last month. Hang a sealed ziplock bag filled with water near the area. The locals told me the water bags "scare" the flies away. I googled it & found that lots of people claim it works. It's cheap & easy to try at...
I got this chick from the banty bin at Atwoods last month. It is much smaller than any of the others, but it flies! It eats & drinks along with the other chicks, but likes to fly up & sit on top of the small dog house I have in my coop. Can you help me identify this chicken??
WOW - now that is impressive!! And the smaller one is too cute! Great job - Thanks for the pictures. The white picket fence adds a lot of character. Love it.
Thanks sooner - I didn't think of that. Was just planning to use landscape timbers as the bottom frame and use spikes into the ground as extra protection.
I'm in a rural area - and have seen fox, racoon, armidillo, skunk, and possibly a weasel on my deer cam & hear coyotes nearly every...
Oh I hope I have an easter egger!! I was wanting diffeent colored eggs. First saw them in a Country Home magazine earlier this year & that's when it all started for me.
Staked out the area where the coop & pen will be yesterday. Now the ideas & decisions are flooding my mind. I read that...
Fog was thick in my neck of the woods this morning as well. Made me nervous driving in to work - country roads & lots of deer - Yikes! But have to say, the moon was awesome this morning! Huge u shape & really bright. My daddy used to say when the moon was u shaped, it was filling up with...
Good Morning Everyone!
Finally got a good pic of my unknow breed chick, whom I've named Diamond. Can someone tell me what she is? She's the yellow one with the black on her head.
House chickens - I will have to be careful not to let that happen - LOL! I'm a super newbie with my Atwoods chicks & enjoying them alot. Headed there this afternoon for heated water bowls - just preparing for my little babies!
Yep - pretty sure the little red chicks are Production Reds & the yellow one is a Leghorn. Not real sure on the others though. I'll get better pics this weekend, as they are getting used to me handeling them now. I hope these different breeds all get along!!
Thanks Sooner - just looked at google images on barred rock chicks & that's exactly what they are! Good lookin' chickies if I say so myself! I'm enjoying them so much!
