Red worms in poop. Treatment and do I need to isolate?

My four year old Wyandotte has had a poopy butt for a few days, and I've noticed some diarrhea that I'm guessing was from her. (I have five total, 2 four year old and 3 five-month old girls.) Yesterday I found red worms in a poop -- sorry, no picture yet. About an inch long and skinny. This...

    Hi from Portland OR

Hi David, I'm in NE PDX and also got four chicks last May. No roosters for us, luckily. So cool that you have a Maran -- they have beautiful eggs. I hope you get your chicken's crop issue sorted soon. Sharon

Bird in nesting box at nightfall

Okay, and now that I've done some googling... bingo!!! She's been pulling feathers from her chest and the eggs have been suspiciously warm every time I collect them. Like, all the eggs. 😂 No rooster, though, so she could be sitting on them a looooong time. Do I just let her? Or should I...

Bird in nesting box at nightfall

Ohhhhhh ... thank you! I did notice a lot of warm eggs the other day after she had been in the nesting box for a while. Any suggestions? And any way to tell it apart from egg bound?

Bird in nesting box at nightfall

One of my four almost-year-old hens was in the nesting box just now (twilight) when I went to shut them in for the night. This is highly unusual behavior for her -- she's always down with the others at this time, eagerly waiting for scratch. She looked alert, but quite puffed up in the nesting...

    Tips of comb withering

Hi @aart I'm in Portland Oregon. It's usually not that cold here, but I guess it has dropped to just above freezing the last couple of nights. My chicks have been sleeping in their enclosed run for about a week now -- there's a leak in the henhouse roof and we're getting some mildew which is why...

    Tips of comb withering

Hi, does anyone know what's going on with my girl's comb? The tip of one of the points is brown and sort of fibrous looking. She's an 8 month old Buff Orpington and otherwise seems healthy and is behaving normally. She's my favorite, and I'm really hoping this is nothing serious!

Discouraging sleeping in the nesting box

It's higher than the boxes, except for where the wood above the box meets the wall. If we raised it, I'm not sure if there'd be enough clearance above their heads to fly up. I feel like I have some strange species of ground-nesting chicken in these two. 😂

Discouraging sleeping in the nesting box

Hi all, I'm a first time chicken keeper with four funny, adorable pullets hatched in May. We found our first egg yesterday, which is super exciting but also means we really have to figure out how to convince our chicks not to sleep in the nesting box. When we first installed the nesting...
