I have a Bantam hen that is part Japanese Bantam and Cochin Bantam. She lays very small green eggs. Is this normal? I thought only Ameraucana and Araucana laid green eggs.
We are having blackeyed peas [that is a folk lore for good luck to start the new year], turnips, and ham. I'm not crazy about collards but i do eat them with pepper sauce sprinkled on them.
Has anyone ever heard of are saw a chicken and a duck going together as a couple? I had a female white Muscovy duck and a Batam red rooster that went together for three years. I witnessed them mating and was shocked. Something got my Muscovy duck. Now the red rooster hangs with my two female...
Muscovey ducks are quite and lay lots of eggs. They are perching ducks and will lay inside a building like a chicken. All ducks are messy because their waste is real watery not like a chicken's waste. If you want them for the eggs, it is best to buy them grown that way you will know what sex...
How old do you think your chicken might be? You can tell by the tail feathers, when they get of age, if it is a male or female. Some males look like females until they are three or four months old. I have had several hens with spurs and i was quie puzzled and thought i may have missexed them...
Up date on my hen with eye problem-i kept putting the Terramycin in her eye and it finally lossened up all off the yellow chessy substance. I was able to remove all of the chessy substance and her eye is improving greatly. i don't know for sure yet but i think she might still have her sight in...
Thank everyone for your input on my problem, i have started my hen on sulfadimethoxine (diluted in her water) and still putting terramycin salve in her eye. I know if i could get all of the yellow cheesy substance out, that she would heal alot quicker but it is so embedded and deap in her eye...
It does have an ordor and it does have a foamy substance to it , to start with then it becomes a yellow cheesy rubbery substance. The eye has sunk way down in the eye socket because of the substance under the eyelid and between the eye socket and eyeball. I think the hen will be blind in that...
I had a hen that had an impacked crop and i took her to my vet. He is a wonderful vet because he did the surgery and i helped and my hen recovered and lived to be thirteen years old. She had eaten hay that made the crop impacked. I put an idodine solution , that the vet sent home with my hen, on...
I can't post a picture but the yellow substance is thick and rubbery like . I have gotten some of the substance out from around the eyeball but it keeps coming back. I am using Terramycin for the eye. The substance makes the eye lid stand way out and looks like a huge swollen eye.
I have a chicken with an eye disease that looks like yellow cheese. It is under the eyelid, surrounding the eyeball. Does anyone know what the disease is and how to cure it??
I had some baby ducks die years ago and i took one to the vet to be autopsied. The little ducks body was sent off to the lab and when the results came back it stated that some type of harmful bateria was found in the stomach. The little ducks had gotten the bacteria from algae in our pond. A...
I have a rooster that has blown up like a beachball and also feels like one. he has large amounts of gas under his skin and his skin is pulled so tight that he can't even close his eyes. I made openings in several places in the skin to let the gas escape and so far the skin is staying down...
