Here is my day-old featherless silkie chick. My daughter pointed out that the little guy has a few "tufts" but mostly he's pretty bald. Mom seems to be caring for him fine but he does spend most of his time under her staying warm (it is 80 F right now).
I'm hoping to keep it with its mom since I think she will protect this little guy for the first 4-6 weeks which might give it a chance of being accepted by the other chicks. I hate to put it by itself since in my experience they hate being alone. I will definitely try the silkie thread. Thanks!
I've already posted this on the new member forum but thought I'd try here as well. I had a silkie chick hatch without any feathers today. So far she seems healthy and is being kept warm by her mom. Anyone else have this experience? Words of wisdom? Anything helpful.......
