    My featherless silkie chick

I have but apparently this is a rare occurrence and no one has experience with how to care for Sprout. Right now I'm leaving it up to mama hen.

    My featherless silkie chick

Here is my day-old featherless silkie chick. My daughter pointed out that the little guy has a few "tufts" but mostly he's pretty bald. Mom seems to be caring for him fine but he does spend most of his time under her staying warm (it is 80 F right now).

    Featherless silkie chick

I'll try to post a photo today. She hatched at 21 days, and the feathers are supposed to have finished developing on day 16.

    Featherless/fluffless silkie chick

She is "naked as a jay bird", no fluff. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a photo tomorrow.

    Featherless/fluffless silkie chick

I had a silkie chick hatch today without any feathers/fluff. So far the hen is caring for it. Has anyone else had this happen?

    Featherless silkie chick

I'm hoping to keep it with its mom since I think she will protect this little guy for the first 4-6 weeks which might give it a chance of being accepted by the other chicks. I hate to put it by itself since in my experience they hate being alone. I will definitely try the silkie thread. Thanks!

    Featherless silkie chick

Yup! Bald as can be. I should add that we've had silkies for 2 years, and we've had 14 perfectly normal silkie chicks hatch over the past few weeks

    Featherless silkie chick

I've already posted this on the new member forum but thought I'd try here as well. I had a silkie chick hatch without any feathers today. So far she seems healthy and is being kept warm by her mom. Anyone else have this experience? Words of wisdom? Anything helpful.......

    Featherless silkie chick

I'm new to this forum and am looking for a bit of help. I had a silkie chick hatch today that is completely featherless. So far she seems to be in good health. She is being kept toasty warm by her mom but I'm concerned about what will happen once mom is ready to get up and move around. It is...
