My featherless silkie chick

Here is my day-old featherless silkie chick. My daughter pointed out that the little guy has a few "tufts" but mostly he's pretty bald. Mom seems to be caring for him fine but he does spend most of his time under her staying warm (it is 80 F right now).
 
Wow, I have never seen anything like it. Maybe ask over in the silkie thread in General Breed Discussion. I think there may also be a thread on scaleless (featherless) birds there too.
 
I have but apparently this is a rare occurrence and no one has experience with how to care for Sprout. Right now I'm leaving it up to mama hen.
 
Not the first time I've seen a naked chicken on this forum, but I can't remember who it was that had one.

It would be interesting to take care of one myself. My mother crochets, so if I had one I would make her crochet sweaters for it.
 
I think its nava who has the totally naked chick. the chick is called rudy. I'm sure if you searched for rudy it would pull him up.
