Hello All! I don't post often, but do read often. I have learned a lot about chickens from all of you. I had something kind of funny happen yesterday. I have this cat who has stayed in and around the chicken coop and run since she was just a little kitten. She is always with the...

I really like the lavenders too! No, it isn't lavender, they are all mixed colors. I don't have the Cochins separated by color (I have 1 splash, 2 black, 1 black/White hen and 2 black/white roosters)...I wasn't planning on hatching any of their eggs but then they all went broody on me...

Went out to feed the chickens on Saturday morning and found 3 chicks had hatched from one of my broody Cochins. I have 4 Cochin hens and 3 of them went broody around the same time. The first one was sitting on 4 eggs and none of them hatched (looked like they started developing, then died not...

Don't give up, you can do it! There are tons of ideas, Plans and videos online for just about anything you would want to build. Like hechicken said, it is rewarding to be able to look at something and say "I did that"!

I like the idea of these hoop coops. Especially how you are doing it with the chicken house built in. I really like the idea of the one you are talking about with the double coop in the middle with pens on each side. I'll be anxious to see how that turns out for you. I built another brooder a...

Oh my, glad you found them! My mom has a horse that can open just about any gate too, so i've been on the frantic search for horses in the dark...not fun! After the first couple times, we knew where to find them. They like to go to the neighbors house to visit their horses. Hopefully the...

My Grandparents had Miniature horses when I was younger, I loved them! We also had big horses and I think they pretty much require the same care. We showed the Mini's, so we worked with them a lot! Here is a website for the American Miniature Horse Association, you might find some useful...

Like the rest of you, I am so ready for Spring! My poor Cochins, their whole pen is a snow drift right now. I had some older chicks in a separate house/pen in the cochin pen and they had snow in their house this morning. i moved them over to another pen and they are dry and happy now. Even...

I have been reading this thread for quite some time and thought I better finally introduce myself and say Hi! I live about an hour east of Wichita. We got chickens a year ago...started with 4 and now have around 35...ha...guess i'm figuring out the chicken math. I really enjoy the chickens...
