    Bloody stool

Thanks for the links. We didn't have any luck finding it today at the supply stores we looked at. If I order online, do you think it will get here in time? The vet was not much help at all. Said they would have to physically see the bird for exam and do stool samples then order the appropriate...

I did! I will stop over and say Hi :) I am hoping that's all it is too. Fingers crossed! But I think we'll treat them anyway

    Bloody stool

This morning she had another bloody one and I saw a bit of diarrhea. All chicks are still active and eating. We will head out to get medicine to add to the water. What does pale look like?

Thanks for that. According to this chart all 3 are severely underweight for their age. They were sold to us as sexed 4 week olds, but one is quite larger than the other two. I'll look up their breed but they are 3/4 mixed.

New to this, what breed are these?

I was told they are 3/4 Australorp and/or 3/4 leghorn. I'm assuming the two white are the leghorn and the black is Australorp. Is that right?

Thanks Sumi. When we got them they said 3/4 Australorp and 3/4 Leghorn. I'll post pics :)

Thanks, I am less concerned now. I haven't seen any other abnormal poo and no behavioural changes. I'm keeping a close eye though.

    Bloody stool

Stool from a 4 week old chick. Is this cocci? What do I do? Just got our first chicks yesterday. I have had them out in the yard, but now I'm reading that they can get the bacteria from the dirt. I also saw a poop in the water, I changed it right away, I'm not sure if they drank from it. They...

    We have baby chicks!

Thank you! That's very helpful, I'll look at those threads. Haha, they are hens, but the names are even throwing me off and I find myself saying "he" instead of "she"...

    We have baby chicks!

This is my first post. We got our first chicks yesterday. 3. Lovingly named by our kids: Michael Angelo, Benedict and Cooper. They are approx 4 weeks old. We live in Perth, Western Australia. I think they are Australorp and Leghorn? Or mix of the two? I can't believe we have CHICKENS!
