We have baby chicks!

This is my first post. We got our first chicks yesterday. 3. Lovingly named by our kids: Michael Angelo, Benedict and Cooper.
They are approx 4 weeks old. We live in Perth, Western Australia. I think they are Australorp and Leghorn? Or mix of the two?
I can't believe we have CHICKENS!

You are in luck we have two Aussie threads on BYC: "Australia, six states and one funny little island," and "Australians- where are you." They could advise you on the best manner of housing them - for your climate, where the best shops are for feed, and other chicken supplies. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Hope your children won't be too upset if the birds turn out to be hens.

Thank you! That's very helpful, I'll look at those threads. Haha, they are hens, but the names are even throwing me off and I find myself saying "he" instead of "she"...

Congrats on the first chicks! There is quite difference between Australorp and Leghorns. If you post pics of them in the What Breed Or Gender is This? we can tell you which you've got. Enjoy the site!
