Thank you for the compliments. I love 3 and 7 the most as far as color just now to decide what to do with them?? They are all the same age my hen hatched them herself. The hen is a game hen and the rooster is a White Rock. I never know what I am going to get but have had three clutches...
Here are the updated pictures of the crew from 8/31/08: 2,3,5 and 7 are roosters because they are making their rooster noises. 4 & 8 are pullets definitely and I did not do pictures of them. 1 & 6 are the question marks. They do not have the saddle feathers like the boys and they are smaller...
Just an update to my original post: #2, 3 and 7 are roosters because they are making their special rooster noise :O)
#4 and 8 are pullets.
#5 has yet to make a peep but I have a feeling it will not be long.
However, #1 and 6 are still question marks. Their combs and waddles have not grown...
Our 20 wk old pullets are from our Game Hens crossed with our White Rock rooster. I have been reading that it seems that White Rocks usually start laying around 20 wks but I have not found at what age a game hen starts to lay. And since the game hens found us vs us finding them, long story, I...
So it sounds like the general consensus is that he is a White Rock. He does get a little bit of cracked corn(what comes out of my chicken coop from the hens) but otherwise he is 100% free range on the farm 24 hrs a day. And he roosts up in my trees with his two game hens.

Yes after seeing the picture I think he is a buff. The one red feather looks like the ones on the side of the picture.
Thanks everyone for the help. So where do the buff's come from? Do they breed their color pure?
thanks again,
steph
Thanks everyone. So far everyone is thinking like I am though I was trying to be hopeful that #1 and 6 might still be pullets. They just started growing waddles and combs the last two weeks and up until that point they looked like 4 and 8. I love the colors though just have to figure out what to...
Thank you for the responses. He is actually very white but enjoys playing in the dirt with his girls :O) They are all the time down in our horse pastures wallowing like crazy and then they just lay there. I actually thought once that the hen was dead but no she was just having fun:O) He does...
I just posted a picture of my rooster that I believe is a White Rock. The hen to these chicks is a game hen. They are almost 10 wks old in this picture. I have a feeling I know which is which but I thought I would get some outside guesses.
Thanks

I have come into chickens by chance the past two years. Starting with a flock of game hens migrating to our house from the neighbors who decided we could keep them (after they only owned them for one day.) Then about 7 months ago we had someone drop off four roosters. One was taken care of by...
