I have 4 hens and a rooster living in my rabbit barn, they came in here when a weasel killed all their mates in the chicken coop. We fixed the coop and it is now tight and safe, but they will not go back. I accepted defeat and put in a roosting ladder and some nest boxes up high. Things were...
I finally found out what was getting the chickens.....a bobcat! About 5:30 pm my daughter saw it stalking the chickens! Not sure how to deal with this other than SSS, but I'll try to work something out!

Thanks, We are missing roosters I think because we have more of them than the hens...luck of the draw when I bought the chicks.
I thought about hawks and foxes, but was not sure if they could take a full size bird in the middle of the day. I don't know if could be a human unless they are...
I am starting to lose chickens....
In the morning I let the chickens out of their house and let them free range. In the evening I call them in with some food and everyone loads back into the house and I lock them in for the night. This has been then routine since early spring and up to this last...
I had to force mine out of chicken house this morning! Once they were all out in the yard they started enjoying themselves walking around and looking for bugs. I built a little ramp for them to use chicken door, but I think it will be a struggle to get them back inside.

I know! I thought they would be happy to run around and explore but ours stood around for a bit and then piled in the corner on top of one another. I will try to get the sliding door cut into the chicken house today so all of them can come and go as they please. I think they need an older hen to...
The 3-week old chicks were getting pretty crowded in their plastic swimming pool surrounded with chicken wire, so I decided to make them an outside yard.
I used an entire 2x4x48 100' roll plus some extra for their area. I thought I would bend two feet wide chicken wire and hardware cloth that...
Thinking about trying my hand at cleaning and carding a fleece I have ..
Im looking for something used because I sometimes loose interest in my little projects .
Not sure what carders I need, but if you tried and have given up now is the time to sell them to me!
Thanks in advance,
Sherielu
I think Ive figured it out! I printed out the Sears and Roebuck Instruction book along with the wonderful photos. I now understand that the bird is lying on its side, at first I thought it was spread eagle on its back.
I hope the first few will forgive me .I think there will be a learning...
I am really thinking about trying this on the extra roos .but I need more information, did you have a guide to use, or some inspiring article? You have great pics but I am wondering how to flip them when you say flip them over and do the other side.
Funny I was showing my husband your article...

It's been a long day and I was just winding down looking at the photos of this wonderful station when I saw this post .....I just cracked up! Thanks for the laugh.
Real humor comes from looking at ourselves.
These are great suggestions!
I like the idea of a shorter horse! Old knees!!
I have heard about Halflingers but now I will do some more checking.
Glad to know I am not the only person thinking about this issue!
This is good information! I never knew the percentage of body weight a horse could carry.
Does anyone know if a mule or mammoth donkey can carry more or less percent of body weight than a horse?
I can foresee a time when it will be easier to lose some extra weight, but right now, I spend 8-10...
