What brand/type of leg bands do you use and where did you get them? I just have 2 barred rocks but I'm tired of calling them "Rockie" and "Other Rockie" interchangeably. They are 2 months old and I would like to be able to tell them apart. Great photo btw! :)
My 4 chickens will be 2 months old at the end of this week. Today they got to roam around a new (to them) part of the yard. They were like little kids running around a new playground. The best part was watching the Ameraucana chase moths. I had a very hard day today and was very stressed out...
I'm still a newbie, my first chicks are 7 weeks old. I have a plastic SnapLock coop. Another point is that we're keeping the coop on our front porch until their big run is ready. I switched from shavings to sand about a week ago and am very happy with it.The shavings were messy on the patio...
We didn't get their coop. We have the Snaplock standard size coop. It is working out well as we've already moved it several times and it is super light-weight. We also took the whole house off the base to do some cleaning and to put it up on the stand he built for it. There is plenty of room for...
Oh we're using electric fencing too! Evidently we already have a lot of it left from the previous owners of our house. They kept show goats and fancy cattle. DH is going to use it to protect his garden from the deer that are enjoying so much. He will probably end up enclosing several acres...
Well, found something! Expensive but DH said he didn't care as long as it was lead-free: chickencondo. Like a big dog pen that is powder coated over steel with a solid roof. It takes 5 min to set up and can be moved to a different location if we change our minds after awhile.
So we ordered the...
Well they are made of powder coated un-galvanized steel with no lead or zinc. Predator protection around the bottom. Solid roof on top. Expandable incase chicken math happens. 6xx8x6= 48 sq ft for 4 chickens. Will decide today.
it does make sense to buy a dog run from TS but I posted earlier about needing a lead-free run. We're going to probably use electric fencing but I want a secure physical run for them that I won't have to worry about on days w/o power (though I guess solar power wouldn't be affected.) So many...
My 4 chickens are now 7 weeks old and we still don't have a chicken run build for them. They are in their snaplock coop at night, Precision extension pen (1 now but will be 2 connected by tomorrow) during the day, and they get to play in the yard by me for an hour at dusk. But they are growing...
The sliver of plastic you cut from the yogurt cup was just to use as a spacer between the upside-down bottle and the yogurt cup? What if they knock into the bottle, will it tip over? Looks nice.
we are building one right now. We have the standard size SL coop. We plan to build a full enclosure and put the coop inside it. Ours is up on wooden legs as shown in the instructions. I'll post pictures when it is done (I am hoping DH will start on it today!)
