Better! It turned out that I had one drake and two females, and the girls were kicking the 💩 out of the drake! I separated them for a night, and haven’t had any problems since.
The big ducks are two females and a drake. He doesn’t seem to have any interest in the babies at all. He came over and looked at them for a few and then waddled off back to the pond.
Like I said I’m going to wait a few more weeks to let them out of the cage, but that’s all good to know!
Hi!
I have three, 7(ish) week old Pekin ducks, and three 2 week old Pekin ducklings. They’ve been meeting through a repurposed dog kennel on really nice day, like today!
I have one hen that’s particularly interested with the babies, and won’t leave their “side” when they’re outside.
I won’t...
Hi friends!
I recently got three more ducklings to add to my flock of three. One of the ducklings has a very pale beak compared to the other two/my big ducks. I’m still new to this, so I’m wondering if this means that I have a white layer in my mix?
They’re all supposed to be Pekins, but it...
Very interesting, I’ve done all the things you listed with the remaining ducklings. I’ll definitely keep an eye out with my little guys. My big ducks are on Dumor too and I didn’t have a problem with them, but I’ll start keeping a closer eye on them too.
Thank you!
Interesting ... my first round of babies (I lost one of them, but as I explained, it was weak when we picked it up from the feed store) I was feeding Purina flock raiser so I didn’t think about the food being the reason. Did your babies show any other symptoms other than just dying (seemingly)...
I’m not entirely sure, there’s a chick waterer in there, my other ducklings did it too. They can get away from the heat, yes.
I appreciate it!
Day three with the babies and the remaining three are strong, so I’m hopeful..
They are Pekins (maybe white layers? They’re supposed to be Pekins though). The brooder temp is 85° and no one is panting or shivering, the remaining babies are running around/acting normal. They’re eating Dumor non-medicated chick starter (the bag says it’s also fine for ducklings and it’s all...
Hi all!
So my three ducks that made me a duck mama are feathered and out in the coop. Logically, I got 4 more ducklings to appease my “empty nest” syndrome.
The first batch of ducks I got, I got four, and lost one within an hour of having them home (it was weak when we picked them up from the...
Hi everyone!
a while back I posted a thread because I had some duckling bulling going on and my ducklings were bleeding from their wings.
Those healed up pretty well, except one wing on one duckling. This duckling has continuously knocked the clot/scab off his or her wing, which makes it bleed...
Hi everyone!
As suggesting I cleaned this wound the first day, and after that the duckling kept herself clean, and the other ducklings weren’t picking at her, so I let it be. Flash forward to my night check (I always check before I go to bed at night to make sure they have food/water/make sure...
