I did get rid of them. Sherry was quick to jump on the offer. Mesa is in the valley just a few miles east of Phoenix. Anyone need a nest box, free to a good home. I am dismembering my coop and don't want to see all of it go to waste. Never got to show off my coop. Here are a few before...- SigChef

If anyone is looking to add to their flock I have 3 Buffs, 2 Barreds and 1 Silver laced. My landlord called me today to tell me she is selling our house. Diatomaceous Earth (DE) Info!
I have had zero luck killing ants with DE, mine are not fire ants...just standard black ants. They just march right through it, no matter how much I put down.- SigChef

Straw or pine shavings in coop?
My sand is probably around 3 inches deep, I use medium all purpose sand which is about 9 dollars per 100# at Home Depot.- SigChef

Straw or pine shavings in coop?
I use sand in my run, and pine shavings in my coop. I am however switching over to sand in the coop this week. I drilled holes in a dust pan, and just use it as a pooper scooper. I am a neat freak so I scoop every morning when I let the hens out into the yard. I treat everything heavily...- SigChef

Has anyone ever used terracotta bricks in a pan filled with water? The bricks soak up the water in the pan, cooling as the water evaporates.
