    Ok! But what gene makes the pattern brown? I mean, wheatens do have black pigment, don't they? I don't see how it would explain brown lacing.     The underfluff is white. Had to go and check And the lacing is actually more like multiple, only on saddle it's double. And the color is definitely brown, I'll try to get some close up pics tomorrow when there's hopefully more light (we have a terrible stormy weather!).

    Sorry, no pics of chicks. The two chikens I have at home are full grown. I try to get eggs from them while the previous rooster still has some influence and maybe get chicks of the same color, but it takes time at least the 21 days
