Yes don't worry this is normal hens start to lay at many different ages (from 5-8 months) just don't rush it they won't be regularly laying in the beginning but they will get there:)
I have a 5 1/2 month old barred rock that I am waiting on to lay. I was wondering what some signs are that she may have her first egg coming. Thank you for any help :)
They are too young to tell. Silkies are the hardest breed to tell whether they will be roosters or hens. For my silkies I had to wait until they crowed or layed an egg.
In Silkies it is VERY hard to know if they will be a rooster of a hen. There are signs but with mine I had to wait until they were about 2-3 months old. Good luck
