    I just gave my 3 week old chicks their first treat yesterday, I gave them my daughter's left over scrambled egg breakfast and they LOVED it once they realized it was food! LOL They were so funny!

    Changing from shavings to sand in the brooder.

    I switched over to Sand and I'm really not a big fan. It's easier to clean, but I have to clean it MORE. Also, it smells reallllly bad I think, like a yucky ocean LOL Once this current bag of sand is done, I'm switching back to shavings. Hope it works better for you than it does for me!!

    Regarding kids.....

    I have a 3 yr old, and she is only allowed to hold a chick if shes sitting down and holds it in her lap. She's really good with them, and she loves to sit on the floor w/them while they are pecking around the carpet. She's a great "big sister" to these lil guys!
