4 India Blue that i must re-home (brookings, oregon)

our adult male still has his train and displays it and calls all day long...in front of one of the vacation cottages. the yearlings and parents seem to chime out pretty often but maybe this is because we have a constant turnover of guests. they all are used to how it is around here but their...

wow, what a beautiful environment for your birds and dogs :) I wish mine could be there too! I'm so sad that we can't keep the whole family but we run an Inn and the guests are complaining that they're too loud :( where do you live?

4 India Blue that i must re-home (brookings, oregon)

thank you :) yes, they are free-range, but they are used to their morning and evening meal. and occasional treats, blueberries, bread, each one has a favorite of somekind. we are hoping to find a similar setting, no cages or pens. they sleep so high up that they are not in danger. thanks for...

4 India Blue that i must re-home (brookings, oregon)

4 India Blue 1 year old Peafowl: 2 males 2 females. Extremely friendly, we are so attached to them, watched them hatch from mom and she did a beautiful job raising them. They are mostly wild, sleep 30' feet up a tree. We just feed them breakfast and dinner and sometimes an occasional treat...

2 wk approx. developed eggs, can they be transported 2.5 hours away?

ok, i didn't want to put the peahen through the separation of her chicks after all her work laying, and most importantly we need to get her out of danger as she is out on the property (we keep our peafowl wild).

2 wk approx. developed eggs, can they be transported 2.5 hours away?

hello, we have peahens setting and don't want more peafowl, trying to keep the population down. someone we know wants to have the eggs to incubate and hatch. wondering if it is too late to transport the eggs, we are thinking the hen has been setting for around 2 weeks, so are they too developed...

is it safe for dad to be around his peachicks?

ok, thank you joe, i will try it out. so far he seems very docile around them between the fence. i also wonder about my chickens and how they would treat the chicks. eventually everyone will free roam together but i'm being careful about the chicks.

is it safe for dad to be around his peachicks?

Peachicks are 2 weeks old, and we are keeping mom and chicks penned for safety. We let them out (supervised) for short outings into the bigger pen. Meanwhile curious, is it safe for the male to hang out with mom and chicks? he is lonely and curious, but respectively stays away and gives her...

6 little Pea Chicks but it's raining and mom does't like the nest we provided :(

my first experience with this so i'm kinda excited trying to keep mom and her babies warm and dry...after a month of hot days, i'm not welcoming the rain these days. it looks like mom has it covered though. any suggestions are welcomed.

we have chick-peas! how long does mom stay on her chicks?

found mom this morning out from her hatching nest with her babies under her, in the rain :( so i coaxed them all into the safe pen. 6 babies out of 6 eggs!!! now it's a matter of her settling into this new area that shes not too pleased with. she doesn't like the nest or housing that we made...

    PEAHEN EGGS please advise!

i'm not sure how many...i was convinced she had dud eggs, so i lifted her off but she wouldn't budge, and i saw a cracked empty eggshell and heard chirping, at least 2 chirps (6 eggs total). we will soon find out...this is very exciting !!!

we have chick-peas! how long does mom stay on her chicks?

wow, so interesting. i have been thinking how instinct is being lost through the incubation breeding process, and your experience and thesis hit it head on. until mom comes out with her chicks, my husband and i are taking turns with night patrol, ugh! she is in a double fenced enclosure in...
