We're looking to move to Holbrook with our hens. Does that town require permits? I'd hate to give up my gals.

Looking to move to Holbrook with my chickens, did you have to get a permit? Thanks!

We have 12 hens & a roo. We realize we might have to trim our flock to move there. We'll hate to give up our roo but we understand rules are rules.

I'm having a hard time finding current info for Weymouth, MA regarding the owning of chickens. Any local chicken owners out there?

    Rooster losing tail feathers

Our roo is losing his tail feathers. He's also dropping flight feathers. Is this molting? Should we be concerned? He seems fine otherwise.

    Raising chickens in Weymouth MA

I know this exact question has been asked. But the threads are from 2007 and 2008. So I thought it best to ask again. We are thinking of moving to Weymouth MA. This isn't definite. What process do we have to go through to keep our chickens? Is there any limit? We currently have 12 hens and a roo.

Our Sex Links have asymmetrical chests

You learn something every day when you got chickens in the family! So they are "filled up". <the husband>

Our Sex Links have asymmetrical chests

It's hard to tell & impossible to get a good picture of but at least two of our sex link hens have much larger right breasts. It's odd. We figure it's because they're production hens & weren't bred for their looks. We still love the goofy looking girls!

    Molting, stress or hen pecking

Brief update, last night Snowball was up on the perch with the rest of the chickens when I closed them up for the evening. I see that as positive progress.

    Molting, stress or hen pecking

The other hens we got that day had some patchy spots on their chests too but nothing like Snowball.

    Molting, stress or hen pecking

Hey there. We do add crushed oyster shells to their food. She's definitely on the lower end of the pecking order that I can tell. The other chickens perch on the roost but she sleeps in a nest box. When we bought her at the local farm, they were all in big tent/hut thing with no perches only...
