I just got a few chicks last night and one of them has poop stuck to her butt. I looked at it, and it does not appear to be covering the vent.
Should I still clean it up and how?

Someone around here lost their whole flock after someone used wirecutters to get into the coop and put some neighborhood dogs in with the hens while they were sleeping.
We have good ventilation, we have small screens at the top of the coop made from some industrial strength steel wire mesh that I got at a garage sale for $5. No stupid raccoon's gunna get in my coop.
I'm getting some Barred Rocks soon, I think the stripes look cooler.
