Its got bars across the top. The plywood is just to keep the rain and sun off of her. We sank tent stakes down so it cant be flipped.
I slipped two eggs under her this morning and she hasn't kicked them out yet. I need to try and catch her off the nest so I can candle them to see if the ones...
This is Bubbles. Shes been getting more and more broody, and been hiding her eggs in this nest. She hasn't been sitting all that long until two nights ago when she would not get up to go back in the coop for the night.
We were out there pondering what to do when our neighbor saw us and came...
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a duck with the same issue. Her leg looks just like your photos. What ended up helping? We are assuming infection for now, and she is inside getting the tub baths, for lack of any better ideas.
She can still walk, but has a severe limp and will only...
I took mine out a few times when they were that young and they were fine. I did not leave them out there alone though, I sat with them and watched them closely. As soon as the started acting cold at all, playtime was over, it was never more than an hour. I used it as bonding time and let them...
I dont know of any way to do a quarantine with out making an entire new pen. I let my ducks free range during the day, so I couldnt even let the new ones out with out putting up a fence. Its pretty cold here so I would need a solid nighttime enclosure with their own bedding and food and water...
I just got off the phone with them. They have had a vet come by and look at each single duck and they have been cleared by the vet, but I didnt ask specifics. They apparently have had them for a while, but due to custody issues, thy are just now being made available for adoption. I am going to...
The local SPCA's have found a crazy lady in the woods who had over 100 ducks of various breeds. They seized them and now need to find homes for them.
Some of them are in pretty rough shape because of the lack of care. Most are missing feathers, some show broken limbs that have long healed...
I dont have a picture of her handy, but she looks just like this:

I ordered her online from Murray McMurray as a chick. She has the white belly/throat. I'll try and get a good picture of...
Thanks for finding that out.
I guess you could call them grey. My kids are insisting they are dark green, but I dont see it. They look black to me.
I wanted another swedish, and know I know which eggs are hers.
It makes the egg carton more interesting that's for sure.
I had one of my outdoor ducks start laying two days ago. No extra lights in the pen. Two others started on Dec. 4th.
I was assuming I had to wait until spring as well, but well, there they were.
My ducks just started laying this month. I have some cambells, a pekin, and a black and white swedish. Two of them have been laying for a month or so now, and a third just started. The new one has laid two black eggs so far. When washed, it fades to a charcoal grey.
We planned to eat it.
