    Ducks not laying

I've had Rouens and Kaki Campbells for less than a year now. Once they started laying in about July, they didn't stop. Until a few weeks ago. I let them set on some to get more ducks. They laid eggs for about a week after that batch hatched, then that was it. Do they not lay in winter time? It...

thinking of getting some geese need some suggestions

This year, I started with some ducks (Kaki Campbells and Rouens) to raise for eggs and meat. I also got some Canada geese to let roam free around the pond and yard. Everything is going well but this past week while Christmas shoping, I priced a goose for Christmas dinner at Krogers. $54. Wow. So...

    Is this lieing?

In answer to your original question, if this is a theoligical debate, lying is lying. You'll know if you did. But it's nice to hear you can keep two.

    free range or run??

Quote: Any chance there are snapping turtles in that pond? Snappers took down tons of wild fowl here, but after I started my turtle feeding program, we don't seem to have any big snappers. No my own dogs took them out.

    free range or run??

I used to let them free range with a pond and all. I lost 8 of 12. Now they stay in a pen.

How to reap benefits of duck water

Quote: the pond pumps will work fine.......not alot of pressure at that distance but.......seems like alot of work to load and move water across 2 acres....can you put their pool closer to somewhere you can use it? Yeah, could be alot of work. I'm rolling across grass at home not concrete. A...

How to reap benefits of duck water

There's some good ideas here. What I envision is something similar to what I have at work to carry and spray soap on oil spills. It's about the size of a shopping cart with a 30 or so gallon drum on it. There's a little pump that allows us to spray it out. It sounds a little elaborate for what...

How to reap benefits of duck water

I do keep a compost. And I'd love to use the water, I just don't want to have to use buckets to get to it. I'd rather pump it out and move it to where I want it.

How to reap benefits of duck water

Btw I forgot to mention the grass at the edge of the pen where the water is dumped out is the thickest and greenest in all two acres.

How to reap benefits of duck water

I generally change the water every other day. It can get dirty quick. But yeah I see your point.

How to reap benefits of duck water

So this is my situation. I have a duck pen separated into two sections. Each section has a hard plastic kiddie pool that seems to work great. However, I would like to use the water instead of dumping it out when it comes time to clean the pool, especially since we're experiencing the worst...

How do I know if there's a duck in my egg

I just got up (I work graveyards) and there are two eggs in the duck pen. But, how do I know if they've been fertilized? I don't want to waste them, but if there's a duck there, I'd rather expand the brood. I put them up to light and can't see anything, but I would think that's too soon anyway.

Pickin' them off one by one

I've got a similar problem. I've got Barred Owls around too. We enjoy seeing them around. Will the owls carry off a grown duck?

Club feet on my baby Canada Goose

Had a few days off and didn't make any progress. I'm worried that the goose will grow up before I can fix the problem. I made a splint of popsicle sticks, but the poor thing couldn't even get up. It just laid on the ground with it's feet stuck out behind it. Where would someone get these duck...
