I purchased 17 little babies yesterday...here they are!
They are all purebreds, but different breeds, lavender and light sussex, welsummer, australorps and wyandottes :)
Ignore the silly names, they're all named after people's screen names, save laura who's named after a friend's mother and...
Getting all the goodies from ebay this week, my ipad charger came today, so egg photos tomorrow. I also ordered a high powered flashlight/torch (apparently 800lm), which is actually arriving before my new candler, so i should be able to light those eggs up like christmas tomorrow night to look...
can i join in even if my babies are gonna come early? I set them yesterday because i want them ready to go to their new homes on halloween (few parents of the kiddos at my halloween party requested this)
if so, ive got 16 eggs in the incubator, a mix of purebred light sussex and easter eggers...
I am a fairly diligent egg collector, I go in every day, peek about, pick up any eggs I find in the coop etc, because I have a pet rooster (stunning light sussex boy, not quite a year old), and I know helena and helga, my tiny little bantams would hatch a potato if they could (they have actually...
Rabbits are actually more likely to attract rats than push them back, you are going to want to be VERY careful with those babies around them, I had an entire litter savaged by rats when the neighbours got rid of their birds, and they ran out of food there...

One of my three eggs has just hatched! On day 20....is it okay for me to keep it in the incubator overnight, as it is 10:30pm and I'd really like to go to sleep and not wait for it to fluff out >.<
have 16 eggs stuffed in the incubator for an expected halloween hatch...most are either light sussex (pure) or light sussex x araucana but two are from two of my slightly older "scrub bantam" chooks (basically a backyard flock of very funny looking tiny birds that have a tendency to be so broody...
I couldn't resist candling, and the egg is dark except for the air cell, no veins anymore, but (from what I could see, and this egg is hard to see into) no internal pip, not sure on movement, but no peeping....I'm hoping the egg isn't dead...and if it isn't that it doesn't take much longer to...
Very excited, even though there's likely only one baby hatching this time, I can't wait to meet the little guy/girl.
These eggs are from one of the hens, and the rooster that I hatched about this time last year, dad is a light sussex, mum is an arauacana girl, so little easter egger baby (or...
