    Ginger Red And Opal Colors?

It is coming along well, The F1 generation should be laying by mid Oct. as are the Rosecomb and bantam wyandotte. I am truly looking forward to them all.

    Ginger Red And Opal Colors?

Tim, I understand your position here, I often avoid such debates with folks especially related to this particular color. I have undoubtedly followed a different breeding practice than Ron has and do believe that we have two diverged flocks that result in the same phenotype at completion. Based...

    Rosecomb Thread

They are coming along well, the F1 Birchens are maturing well, and should start to lay in the next month. The columbians will be a bit behind as I lost my only male from that mating so I have to start over on getting one again. It is hard when you only get a few out the year and only male put a...

To me Lemon Blue is one of the best looking colors in fowl, it is just a real task to get the blue even and the lemon color right. I played with them for a few years then sold all of them. Now I am playing with Silver Blue instead.

    Ginger Red And Opal Colors?

Quote: I have no Idea, I may find out if I run a F1xF1 like normal, I am interested to see if it will develop a wing bay myself. Here is some additional photos to document the cross with Rec. white. The first is the Opal male that was used, second was the resulting F1 male, then F2 Male, F3...

I absolutely agree there Marvin, The second bird would make a better Lemon Blue Breeder bird and a cull Brown red as his hackles are too light. We typically breed for a very dark hackled Brown Red.

    Ginger Red And Opal Colors?

My thoughts exactly Marvin. Knowing what was in the breeding pen helps when you make a cross and being able to document the birds breeding back 10 + generations helps. I made the cross to help with a problem with wing length and scissor wing problems but did not expect to get the traditional...

The Barred will have a red comb, face, and wattles with slate legs The Brown Red will have Mulberry comb, face and wattles with black legs. Lemon Blue's can be found quite easily across the US and breed well with Brown Red as the lemon blue is the blue version of the brown red.

    Ginger Red And Opal Colors?

The chicks that start off with the dark bluish to near black down and white breast develop thier color a bit differently and quicker, they do not start off smoky grey and turn the dun color they start the dun the color when setting in the color Here is one from last winters matings that was a...

    Ginger Red And Opal Colors?

Tim, I will have to disagree with that statement, I made a cross with known recessive white hens using an Opal Male, all offspring demonstrated some color but not full color. None of the F1-F3 generations out of that mating were ever Black. I did make a test mating with Red Pyle a short time...
