I have 3 hens in my Catawba coop and love it...so do they! I think it's easily maintained. It is heavy to move...2 healthy backs would have no problem, but I have back issues, so my husband slips a hand truck under one end to give it wheels and lifts the other...rolls easily! The sides are heavy...
I'm sure there are exceptions to every rule. but I worried about the same thing, as we have a pool. Since last summer, my 3 girls have trotted all around i, but stay completely out of it!

Hi, if you click on my BYC page, you can see that I have that same coop. I have a Buff Orpington, an Ameracauna, and a Plymouth Barred Rock, and it's perfect. But I have to add that I let mine roam my yard all day when I'm home. My Buff Orp is definitely my biggest girl!
I raised my three in the house until they were fully feathered. I have an extra room and as they grew out of the brooder bin, I put down a big plastic tarp with a large cage enclosure on top, filled with pine shavings.
I have those same three breeds (more info and pics on my BYC page). I got them as chicks in early May and the Orpington started laying first, in October, with my EE, or Ameracauna, soon after. (So, that's a little more than 5 months.) My Plymouth Barred Rock just started laying in January...
