    Set up from back further and closer up. 3/4 are eating and drinking on their own. One I'm still being annoying to and watching closely (the lightest colored one). Again the heat lamp is off, and pultry pad is at 100. Will drop to 96 tomorrow and push the down button each day as they mature.

    I turned off and removed the heat lamp. Instead, I put in a poultry pad, where I can adjust the temperature more accurately.     I hatched out quail in September 2024 and they havent layed a single egg and the vents are tiny

    We use string lights in the backyard and just leave it hem on past sundown, a floor or desk light may work too.

    I used a coop almost exactly like this for my first coop. I flipped over the thing and stapled hardware cloth to the bottom. It's not however rat proof (they chewed right through the cedar and killed all but one quail), but stood up to coyotes.

    I disagree! My quail learned to go up and down the ramp to the "top coop" just fine. I used a coop just like this as my starting coop. They learned because I put them all up top with the food and the water was downstairs. They figured it out pretty easily!!

    Why aren't my quail laying and crowing?

    True! Our last egg was 12/3.... nothing since with the shorter days and cold spells (we are in AZ). I'm thinking we probably won't get anything until February.
