    My local TSC doesnt have a large variety of poultry feed... plus I'm obviously trying to keep it on teh cheaper side of things. I go through about 100# every 5 weeks.. so for 16 birds total I guess I might be feeding them too much. I have a chick tay that I fill about 3/4 full for the ducks...

    Ok so correct me if I'm wrong here.. but from what I've read most hens will be spent after about 2-2.5 years of laying. Most, if not all, of us here consider our chickens as pets with benefits right? I know we're not planning on culling any of our hens when the time comes that they no longer...

    Silkie rooster started sleeping alone.. and outside the hen house.

    So yeah just like the title says.. recently my Silkie rooster (Bear) started wallowing out a nest looking spot in some straw and sleeps alone and outside the hen house at night. He used to roost with the girls but no more. I don't have a clue how old he is, as I bought him from someone else...
