I ordered a dozen Royal Palm turkey eggs this spring. Sadly, only 2 hatched and 1 isn't a Royal Palm. We believe she is a Blue Slate. Can anyone confirm this by the pics? She's become my husband's pet. And pest. Wherever he is, she is.
I can remove some turner racks but I'm not sure what day I should take eggs from the turner. A couple seem to be very close but hate to do it too soon.
After letting our Royal Palm hen sit on her eggs she crushed 2 hatchlings to death. :( We gathered the rest of the eggs and candled them.
Some were showing obvious life while others looked to be "possibles".
I just candled them all again and the "possibles" are now "definites".
Here's...
After my first ever successful hatch of silkie chicks, I had the hatching bug - couldn't wait to do it again. After reading this thread I decided to pull out my refrigerated eggs and give it a try. I set 23 of them. I candled them this morning and life is in 14 of them.
I had no intentions...
My chicks are 2 days old. This is my first hatch so I'm learning as I go but, they seem very quiet. They are under a red heat lamp and was recently informed that red is soothing. Otherwise, they seem healthy. Eating and drinking. I don't mind one bit that they are quiet but, is this normal?
I just had my first incubated hatch. 5 out of 8. They are now in brooder box under a heat lamp. If I need to cut back on the temp by 5 degrees each week I'm not sure how to accomplish that. Should I switch to a regular light bulb?
Hi everyone! I'm brand new here. I just purchased the Farm Innovations 4200. A test run confirmed that the built-in thermometer is not accurate. Does anyone know can I control humidity in this unit?
