    Help! A pip!!

So the membranes are white and I've been keeping them moist. He has his beak and one wing out and struggling like crazy to get out. Pretty much most of top is off but still has that secondary membrane stopping him from popping out. I don't see any veins in it while it white. When I dampen with a...

    Help! A pip!!

He has pipped a large round hole but not zipped. He sticks his beak out to peep and yawn. It's been 24 hours since that first pip. Shouldn't he be trying to zip by now? He seems quite comfy and not even trying to pip or zip now.

Mallard Making large round hole and not zipping. His beak is poking out and he peeps and yawns. Is this normal? He first pipped almost 24 hours ago.

    Help! A pip!!

So I put the mallard egg on lockdown yesterday. It's due Tuesday. I went out today for a couple hours and came back to a pip! But it's not a full pip. It's cracked and pushed open a bit but not enough to see in there or even see an air hole yet. Just a pushed out pip. How long before it actually...

    Lockdown question.

I just put my mallard egg on lockdown today. I raised her humidity to 78-80. Is that ok? Also I've seen pics of lockdowns where the walls are foggy and wet from humidity. Mine is clear and not humid looking at all. Is that ok? I thought being at 80 is pretty good. This is a small table top...

    Preparing for lockdown!

So my mallard duck egg turns 28 days on this coming Tuesday. When should I put it on lockdown and what temp and humidity should it go to. Right now it's 99.5F and low humidity due to air sac not growing as much as I would like.

    Air sack size

I have a 20 day old duck egg whose air sac doesn't look all that big. When I look online for correct sizes most show that it stays pretty much the same size until day 23 when it starts to enlarge rapidly. Is that true? I started misting it the other day hoping that helps but not sure that sac...

    After hatching

Ive got another week before my duck hopefully hatches. What do I need to transfer it to and when to keep warm. I read the duckling needs to stay in incubator for 24 hours but its such a small incubator. Also I have cats so was hoping to figure out a warm place to keep the duck. Would maybe a...

    Mallard duck egg question!

Thank you! I relit it while it was in the incubator and saw that indeed there was still a large section of clear. It's just when I turned it it kept moving out of my view. The duckling was still active and I got to see the veins a lot better. Made sure I didn't take or move it that time but was...

    Mallard duck egg question!

I found this mallard duck egg alone on the concrete pool deck. I had a couple of mallards hanging out at my pool for weeks and she would leave random eggs around so I decided to attempt to incubate it. So we are on day 19 of when I placed it in incubator. I have candled it a few times and always...

    Incubator temp suddenly changing

I just bought this incubator for this lone duck egg I found. I am on day 9 of incubating. Lots of movement and kicking in there! So cute! The temp was doing fine up til this am. I woke to find it at 100 degrees when it had been set to 99.5 and had stayed there with no issues. I wasnt sure why it...

Found mallard egg and bought incubator!

Ok so I've been turning it 4 times a day. I candled it tonight and noticed something. There is a small air sack on the blunt end of the egg. I see also what looks to be the eye of the duck now. What I notice though is when candling the entire other half of the egg is clear. Like the yolk is only...

Found mallard egg and bought incubator!

Thanks everyone! So far the incubater is at 99.9 and humidty is now at 35. Should the humdity be low to let the air sack grow better? I see one and it is size of a quarter. At lockdown I raise humdity to 70%? I didn't think of it imprinting on me. I was hoping to raise it til it was old enough...
