I finally got my first eggs today from my girls...I have six Golden Comets at 17 weeks old, and got 4 eggs...yeppie.... But now, I am wondering are they suppose to be on any type of medication or have been given any type of shots so the eggs are safe to eat. Just worried about stuff like swine...

I would definately go with a small skylight, and roof solid the rest. Make a cute window somewhere on the coop, I think it always adds more charactor. Good Luck:)
Unfortunately I am going through the same thing now,,,,I am having my neighbor with a forklift take my 500-600 lb coop back about 40ft!!!! hope he doesn't charge, and I can just supply him with eggs free for a year or something. LOL.

I really don't know what to do about bedding for the nests,,,,,,I hear that straw and hay are not good choices as they hold in moisture and bacteria,,,I hear that cedar shavings are not good for their respirtory system,,,,so I guess regular pine shavings is best???? Any helpful information is...
