Hello All; Back here and reading at my favorite forum. (yay!) So in the on-going saga....our first hen, the Florida, Ferrell, game-hen mix, who seems to be a very strong potential as a good mommy, has just sat for 24 days on 8 eggs which did not hatch. Our little rooster just didn't do the...
HENRICK
here he is as a baby
one of his proud stances
we thought he was a hen when we got him. Were we surprised when he started to crow! He is a little scrappy bantam of some kind. He is about 4 months old.
I agree with trunkman. Since they do know where "up" is and that it is safe inside, they WILL go up at dusk. In winter time mine were going up at 5:30. Now they are going up at 8:05. They are hard wired to go "up" at night so they will do it. Try getting a lawn chair and a cold beer at...
Hey y'all... I looked in on some broody threads because my girl recently went broody on me. I had a golf ball in the nest box to inspire her, and left it in there even after she started laying. I kept removing her eggs, but she started trying to hatch the golf ball and wound up in full blown...
Thanks Jossanne! I think he is rather nice looking now that he is filling out. I was surprised to see what he has become. I have no idea at all what he might be. It seems rare to see such uniform coloring in most breeds. He is an even butterscotch color all over.
We are on the fence about the little guy. He is such a good tempered little bantam (so far), it is hard to think of sending him off to an un-known fate.... just don't know what to do. We really do not want a rooster, and we really do not want to send him away.
I guess that is the tough part...
yay! I thwarted the coccidiosus using CORID.
Our littlest chicken turned out to be a rooster...
He started crowing about 4 days ago.....yes, he is noisy and very proud. The girls will have nothingof his advances although they do seem to default to someof his presumed authority.
He so...
PamperedPullet. Can we assume we are talking about an ongoing concern something larger than a "back yard" affair?
What do you know about partitioning the county to allow chickens in your neighborhood,....since 20 out of 30 of us have them offf the radar?
I have read that the ml wroks out to be about 2 TEA spoons not TABLE spoons.... per gallon .... TEA spoons
All tails are up and scratching is back to normal.
oh no
I feel so sorry about that.
I guess I caught ours in time.......
2 teaspoons of the liquid CORID 9.6% in a gallon of water and 24 hours later and mine seems to be feeling much perkier.
I am cautiously optimistic.
You probably already thought of this, but your other girls are...
It gets better!
The consensus (after 4 hours of research) seems to be 2 teaspoons per gallon of the liquid 9.6%.
24 hours later and my girl is skipping and singing! I will keep it in their water for about a week.
WOW....what a relief.
CORID is the bomb.
