My wife named all my chickens after the "Jersey Shore" characters. She tried to use the "Twilight" names, but I figured that was over the top. Do you have any favorite movie characters? Those always seem to make good names for animals. LOL
These links look very helpful and interesting. Thank you very much. Eight weeks ago when I received my very first chicks, I thought that I about 4 hens too many. Now I find myself figuring out how to build a bigger coop so, in time, I might be able to get a few more.
Are EE's a real breed of chicken or are they kind of a "mutt" bird? I see pics posted all the time of people asking what kind of birds they have and it seems that EE's always look different from the last one. Is it a generic type bird or are there characteristics I'm not noticing? I'm very...
I was told one box for 3 hens. I built two for 6 hens. One got killed and one ended up being a rooster. So now I have two boxes for 4 hens. I think it'll be just fine. If you (they) have the space I would build a one or two more.
The little guy is 7 weeks, so are all the others. Pretty sure he's a bantam. And if it is a rooster, and a bantam at that........ will he make a "little" rooster noises? LOL
I know I have two buff orpingtons for sure, but the others, I have no idea. I just posted picks of the other 3. One is a bantam but not sure what the breed or sex is.
I have 5 seven week old chicks in a 8 x 12 pen and 3x4 coop. I'm new to the whole chicken world but I wanted to get a Rhode Island Red mixed in the group but she is 9 months old. Would this create a problem with the others or are they young enough where they just wouldn't care? I'm not sure...
