This warm weather so soon after all that rain caused a wood door in the back of my coop to warp just enough that a couple girls were able to squeeze out and into the dangerous zone of my pit bull dog. Alas, one black copper and one easter egger are no longer with us.
The door is all fixed now...
Funny. One of my black copper marans refuses to come out from the coop when I open the yard. it just paces back and forth at the open door while the rest make their rounds. I guess it is institutionalized.
I wonder if the chicken feed is worth it if my chickens have been spayed. no more eggs...

Someone approached my wife yesterday at church to inquire if our flock was okay. apparently he saw a coyote running down the street with a chicken in its mouth. I can only recon that the Brahma that I found in the alley was from the same flock and had flown over the wall to escape the coyote...
It appears to be a Brahma with a white body and black feathers around the neck and tail. No luck on finding its owners, but will continue to ask around. Until then, she is hanging out in the coop with my flock.
Found a chicken in the alley near my house this morning near 86 street & chaparral. nice to know I am not the only chicken keeper around here. hope to get it back to its owner.
