Easter Egger thinks she is a rooster and mounting RIR

I am hoping someone can help me with this. Sorry for the long story! I have 6 hens a little over 1 1/2 years old and I had a rooster. Rooster got mean and was attacking me so I had to get rid of him. Rooster has been gone for about 5 months. He had 2 favorite hens who lost lots of feathers on...

    Emergency, lethargic Hen

Hen down! Not sure she is going to make it. I went out to get eggs and saw her just sitting there. She got up when I entered but just sat back down and closed her eyes. I picked her up and her crop was squishy. I massaged it and this aweful sourkraut smell came pouring out her mouth. I...

    Dirty stay outs!

Wow didn't think 8 inches would make that much of a difference. I will take the high Roost in the Run down as they have others in the run. And let you know. Thank for the advise

Thank you, The Roost in the run is about 8 inches higher than in the coop. I could remove it in the run.

    Dirty stay outs!

I have 7 Hens and a (Nasty) Roo. 3 hens and the Roo are 10 months and the other 4 are 6 months old. Lately I have one Hen (a RIR) who is staying out in the run on a high roost at night. So when we go out to close them up for the night we take her off the Roost and put her inside. It doesnt...

Our hen attacked my two young kids

I'm by no means an expert, but that looks like a barred Rock Rooster to me.

1 out of 3 chickens laying, why?

I made my first mistake when I got chicks from TS. ugh! 2 were meat birds and 1 is a roo. They were supposed to be 6 laying hens. With that said I'm in NJ and I got them mid April. I have 2 Astrolorps and 1 EE (I think) and of course the roo. One of the Astro's is laying eggs, about 4 eggs a...
