    I have never put alcohol in the chickens feed to relax them before I kill them. I always kill in the morning while it is still darkish so they are pretty relaxed about it. When I kill my hogs every winter I put cheap vodica in their slop so they are relaxed and easy to handle.

    Don't let the roosters be together or they will kill each other the hens are fighting because there was a shift in the pecking order when you separated the roosters they will settle their differences and establish a new pecking order.

    I usually charge 3 or 4 a dozen but everybody has chickens where I am and food is cheap if you are in the city I would charge 4 or 5 dollars a dozen especially with this egg shortage due to avian flu.

    Goats are hard to keep in so have tall tightly spaced electric fencing. If you are new to goats do not get any bucks because in the fall they get nasty and pee all over the place. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

    Nice job the first time is the hardest it is much easier in the winter optimal chicken killing temp is 20 or less being in the south I can't kill until late september when the extreme heat clears up. Be sure to share how they taste when you and the family eat one.

    We don't have and chicken vets that I know of I have a buddy in Indiana that is a large animal vet I will ask him and send pics.

    My rooster is in a different coop and I never see them fighting but every night the ones who have the baldist necks have recently started sitting outside the coop at night.

    The yellow jackets are always a problem unless it is really cold out they are attracted to the protein in the chicken blood. I use shrink bags but foodsaver bags will do the trick.     Bald necks

    These chickens are 6 years old and they have never done that before also I don't see any feathers in the nesting box I will post some pictures to give you an idea of what the bald spot looks like.

    I kill deep in the woods so that animals come and clean up the blood and stuff that night then the next day I move all my stuff to the house bleach it and put it up. P.S: Keep the sharpener from from that outdoor edge kit handy the knife has to be super sharp to kill quickly and painlessly.

    I would go till they look like fully grown chickens or just a little smaller ideal eating and selling size is 4 to 5 pounds also they take longer than 8 weeks even on the food if they are not cornish crosses.

    Looks good I would wear waterproof shoes because I use lots of water rinsing the chickens and the table and it can pool up by the end of the day. Also be sure to micromanage the water temp in the 185 to 195 range because if the temp is off you can set the feathers in harder rather than loosen them.
