LOL -- thanks for the reply...but that was from like almost 2 years ago -- they've all grown up! You are correct though, the first box was silver-laced polish (and they turned out to be mostly male so we had to give them away). The last one was indeed an easter egger :)
Thanks for the insight. Would it possible to remove the Rooster from them for a few days at a time to let them have time to heal? Or will that mess up the entire pecking order?
I actually had a couple more roosters (that were much more alpha than my current one), so we gave them all away...
Here's the photos: http://imgur.com/a/gTtrl
Background, about 25 hens and 1 rooster live in a 150 ft coop (with outside time). They have a giant 5 gallon waterer and 5 gallon feeder.
Is this a disease/infestation problem?
Is this just what hens look like and is normal? (Some of them don't...
Hey! I was the "friend" who got three baby chicks last year! They're all doing very well, one turned out to be a roo and the two others are hens. The roo is very protective of his girls! All three are different colors and very pretty (since they're a "land race"). Anyway, you should get in...
I'm interested to see if your requests are met, please let us know. It was nice that they put those specifics on your invoice, I asked for a couple of specific breeds but they just wrote "Customer looking for good assortment." Although, in the end I was still very happy with my assortment (but...

Do your chicks run away from you/are frightened by...
Hrm. What did you ask for and what did you get?
What are "no thank you" birds?
On my order I wrote that I wanted: "Silkies, Turkens, Top Hats and EEs for pets. No meat birds please."
On my invoice they wrote "Customer looking for assorted variety for pets. No meat birds."
In my actual...
But as two week old chicks, is the 18% starter/grower feed acceptable, or should I up it to 20%? I haven't decided what I'm going to do when they reach laying age (since it's a mixed flock of male/female and light/medium/heavy breed chickens). I read here that some people just use layer feed...
Does anyone know of any general guidelines for what % protein we should be feeding backyard chicks/chickens? Online, different feeds come with different % amounts. From what I've seen:
18 to 22% for first 6 weeks
18% for week 7-18
16% for week 19 and on
Is this the correct protein % for my...
