Can’t get over this duck story!

I think you're right! I am going to take him out to the coop today! I will put the turkeys somewhere else.. They are ready to harvest anyway, just waiting for a break in the weather.

Can’t get over this duck story!

Ok so I had a look at the little khaki ducklings vent, and I'm pretty sure its a female. Obviously the runner (Mr. Mom) is a male. Khaki's are 3 weeks old today, runner is 16 weeks old today. Is it possible he is trying to mate?

Can’t get over this duck story!

:p:p Yes I might have to do something like that. He was away from them all night and day until I cleaned the brooder out a little while ago and then let him back in with them. So far no screaming! If only his duck brain could understand that when he picks on the little one he gets taken away...

Can’t get over this duck story!

That was my thought, too. They are still just peeping. They will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I’ve tried to look at their vents but they just squirm too much for me to actually try to sex them. They are all pretty much the same size and all eating and drinking really good. But for some reason he is...

Can’t get over this duck story!

Hi all! Thanks for all your messages. Just wanted to give an update to my little flock of 7. Papa duck is Very protective. He has bit me a few times when I’ve tried to socialize with the little ones. They are eating mealworms out of my hand now, so when I come in to check on them they are eager...

Can’t get over this duck story!

Hi All! Just wanted to share this cute story. First off, You all helped me with this runner duck a few months ago, he was not grooming and having some leg issues. He still isn’t perfectly groomed but his leg issues cleared up entirely thanks to your advice about Niacin deficiencies. Anywho...

    Young duck isn’t grooming?

Hard to tell from the pics but I think mine is bigger He must be a jumbo pekin. I sure hope I don’t have to harvest him if he gets too big. I am getting so attached to all 3 of my duckies!

    Young duck isn’t grooming?

Are your pekins as big as mine? I had blue swedish ducks when I lived out west (got them as adults) my pekin (who is 5-6 weeks old) is almost twice the size of my blue swedish ducks . I’m wondering if he’s a jumbo pekin. He is humongous!!

    Young duck isn’t grooming?

Ok I got a dropper-full in the bill but made a mess and scared my duck pretty bad. Can I put the B vitamin liquid in their water? If so, how much per gallon? Would it hurt my chickens and turkeys if they drank it too? Funny story, I put the liquid in his bill, then fed them, then he went to the...

    Young duck isn’t grooming?

Thank you for the suggestions so far! Yes he/she is feathering just fine, the buff started first, then the runner, and then the pekin, and they are all but fully feathered now (still some fuzz near their rear ends.) I saw the runner poop this morning and it was normal. They are eating chick...

    Young duck isn’t grooming?

Not since he was younger and still in the brooder. They all hated it the two times I tried so I haven’t wanted to do it again. Now they are so big, i can’t put them all in my sink, and don’t want to separate them. They are so bonded and freak if they aren’t together.

Hello! First I want to say, thank you all for this website and all your input! I have been getting help from this site since I started keeping birds a few years ago, so thank you! This is my first time posting and asking for help. I work at the feed store, and we had some ducklings that came...
