I have a GQF incubator and been hatching my barnyard mixes for a couple of years.
Last month the hubby bought me some Lavender Americauna hatching eggs. I was very excited to have 18 chicks hatch! It's the expected mix of black and various shades of gray. What was UNEXPECTED was the crazy...
Found this thread when looking for a cute name for our new cargo trailer conversion coop. The chicken trailer will follow behind our heifers who are rotated weekly to fresh pasture. So maybe something traveling, wagon, circus, gypsy, hobo, trucking....

Small moving box sold at Home Depot with 2in holes made with a hole drilling bit.
Loaded and hitting the road. Reba says "Hi".
Young Nigerian Dwarf riding shotgun.
Thanks everyone. The move went flawlessly. We used small Home Depot moving boxes, I "drilled" 2in air holes, put 2 birds to a box, & loosely stacked them in the car. 5 boxes of muscovies, 6 boxes of hens, 3sm + 1med box of geese, and a med box in passenger seat for a goat.
So glad it was only...
We're moving from suburbia to little ranch an hour away. I'm at a loss on how to "pack" and transport 12 hens,9 ducks, & 6 geese.
I'm hoping someone here will have some ideas, suggestions, or experiences to share.
My set-up... coop/pen is a 10x20x6ft tall dog kennel. It houses 13 hens, 2 muscovies, 2cayugas, & 2 pilgrim geese (ducks & geese are male/female pairs). The birds all free range on pasture & pond during the day and locked in their at night. Because of climbing predators and coyotes, I put a...
Needing to find a Pilgrim Gander in north central Texas. We lost our sweet gander to coyotes and now his widow is alone. I hate seeing her by herself so we're willing to pick up within 100 miles of th thed Dallas area.
Our goose is 9 months old and recently began laying. I prefer a gander near...
I have a Muscovy pair that live with my chickens. Aviva is about 6 months old and has begin laying. I'm pretty certain the eggs are fertilized as Vincent has been a very busy boy.
Recent temperatures have been in the 30s (Fahrenheit) and with just 3 eggs so far, she's not sitting. I want her to...
I've noticed mites on my hens. Most just had a few but one girl was pretty infested. I'll be treating them with ivermectine and disinfecting the coop this weekend.
My concern is that I have a goose and two muscovy that share the coop. I've not checked the webbies for mites, but I'm assuming...
I have some left over chai CHIA seeds and thought I'd add them to the hens' treat mix if its safe for them. I did a byc search and didn't find anything so bringing the question to the chicken professionals. :D
I'm having the same problem with my house duck.
Doodles is 4 months old drake, hand raised, never been around other ducks.
A month ago he began chasing my husband and grabbing his pants leg. At first we thought it was cute, thinking he was just playing. But after a couple weeks of him getting...

Doodles is 3 months old & spends most of his day and all night in the house. He is kennel trained (when he feels...
