Can chickens eat [S]chai[/S] CHIA seeds?

I have some left over chai CHIA seeds and thought I'd add them to the hens' treat mix if its safe for them. I did a byc search and didn't find anything so bringing the question to the chicken professionals.

I would imagine so. I would soak them first maybe in some yogurt. Mmmmm chai seed yogurt, maybe you should just eat them yourself. LOL

Do you mean chia seeds? Chia is a glutinous seed used in baking, much like poppy seeds. Very high in nutrients. I wouldn't have any problem giving them to my chickens, but to get the most "bang" out of them, I would sprout them and then feed.
