EE Cross Beak 2 weeks getting really boney!

I have a hen we received from some people who got in way over their heads with chicks. Anyways they thought since they were so small they had plenty of room but when they got older the pen became too small for them. We took 5 off their hands including Pippy. Due to being in such a cramped space...

    Starting Over

Well its that time where our hens are getting VERY old. Most of them haven't been laying for years but they are just too special to kill. We are however going to have to man up. Many of them are getting injured and dying. One of our hens just suddenly started limping and is now paralyzed in one...

    Broody Hen Thread!

I had a broody EE but a few days ago some critter came and ate them. Their was blood so im guessing that they were fertilized and they only had a few more days to go. :( We had a broody australorp but our rooster was a tiny cochin that couldnt mate our standard hens. :P so they never hatched...

    Broody Hen! :)

A few nights ago when the chicks were supposedly going to hatch a wild animal came and ate the eggs. Their was blood everywhere so im assuming at least some of them were fertilized. Although my goose is laying on some duck eggs so maybe we will have a chance to try again.

    Broody Hen! :)

Well today when I let my (free range) chickens out of the coop one of them went RUNNING for the trees. I slowly and carefully as not to scare her followed her. She started digging next to a fallen tree and I walked over to see what she was doing and realized she was digging a small nest bigger...

    Breed & gender

They look like cochins to me. We got about 15 baby cochins and these look like ours. The first one looks like a rooster and the other two are almost definately pullets. I cant be positive on the first one but I am about 88% sure the other two are pullets.

Are you good at identifying Bantams??

The last picture looks like a barred rock bantam or maybe a dominique bantam. Those spots will eventually turn into stripes. Charlie could be an australorp bantam. I cant be positive about the other two but the bottom two look like ones that ive owned (although ive only had normal sizes of...
