    Red Bourbon Breeder

My middle son threw me a curve ball this year for 4H. He wants to take a Red Bourbon this year. I'm 24 weeks from the fair and have had no luck finding a breeder for Reds in North West Ohio. I only need 4. Anybody have any leads for me? Thanks

    Tough Membrane

I've been hatching now since January. I have a foam incubator with an egg turner. At the beginning I was getting a 20% hatch rate. After receiving some advice and doing some research my hatch rate plummeted to 0%. So I have went back to my original method and plan to tweak it here and there...

No I never did. I ended up sprouting oats and wheat instead. I do feed them ground up acorns from time to time and they eat it all.

If you have the room, fence off an area where the chickens range at and put a small shelter in it for them to sleep. Leave them in it for about a week then open fence up and let them mingle. Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Does anyone use the liquid from the fermenting process for either personal or animal use. Sandor writes about it in his book "The Art of Fermentation". Unfortunately he does not speak of the nutritional benefits of it. I was thinking of capturing the water from the soak and use it in the...

    Alternative feeding methods for chics

Is anyone feeding their chics anything other than commercial feed? I currently feed sprouts, fodder and scraps to the layers and they no longer eat commercial feed. Would love to do the same for the chics.
