I don't think so - she was always pretty small and I think at her heaviest weight only 6ish pounds. When they did the necropsy she was 3.2 so had definitely lost weight just cause she wasn't able to eat as much.
This past weekend we had to euthanize our four year old BO Laverne. She'd been sick for the better part of a year and got to a point where she could no longer walk so we knew it was time. Because her symptoms, especially towards the end, seemed somewhat in line with Marek's we drove her to a...
Alright we gave her the first dose of dewormer and will keep up with the crop massages. Would you keep her separated from the rest of the flock? And do we need to be super worried about her weight or just assume it has to do with possible worms and should resolve if the worms do?
Sorry for so...
So this morning when she first got up before having access to food or water it was full and hard but after some coconut oil and massage it was more dough like but still full, so I’m not sure what exactly is wrong. Right now she’s separated from the flock with only water, mash, and grit available.
My almost three year old Easter egger all the sudden has a whole bunch of issues and I’m not sure which to address first or how to go about fixing them and could really use some advise.
I say all the sudden but she’s probably been struggling for a while and we’re just realizing now. The first...
That's what we thought maybe but we have a hound that can sniff out a rat from a mile away so I feel like she would definitely know they were there and she would make sure we knew too. It's definitely a possibility and we're looking into getting a camera.
So we've never had a problem with predators but something weird is going on and I can't figure it out. We have five girls and they're all happy and healthy as far as we can tell but a few weeks ago we noticed a decrease in egg production. Two of the girls lay in the inside nest box and haven't...
We’ve always had possums hang around as we live in front or a large wooded field and definitely don’t want to kill him as he has just as much right to be there as we do. That being said I do know he could kill our chickens if given the opportunity so we make sure to do a head count when we lock...
We mainly want to keep him out of the yard for his own sake. I’m less worried about him hurting the dogs and more about them hurting him. If it was just our little dog who couldn’t care less about him or anything else being there I wouldn’t care but I have a hound mix who has a relentless prey...
Definitely don't want to kill him, he's not really doing anything wrong I just don't really want him around but we are pretty sure it's the same one since part of his ear got ripped - we assume when the dogs got him. We do shoo him away anytime we see him but also don't stand around outside...
Is there a way to discourage a possum from coming into my yard?
We've noticed a huge possum on our fence and in our yard the past few months. Our dogs actually got ahold of him once but he survived to tell the tale but I thought that would be enough to keep him away. Apparently not. I'm not...
Love the idea of this thread because it can be discouraging seeing nothing but sick chickens who don't recover.
Don't have pictures of my girls right now but our Barred Rock Scarlette required pretty round the clock care when she was a chick for failure to thrive. Had to force feed high protein...
