I'm pretty sure one of these is a roo. Now thinking that there maybe another questionable one. They are about 5 weeks old. So my real question is how do I make a "flock" of only 2 hens feel safe? Assuming that chickens subscribe to the safety in numbers theory. Get some sex-linked chicks...
First field trip to the outside today for my 4 EE chicks. Everything seemed to go well. Scratching around searching through the grass. Then one was laying down, rolling to her side and curling her feet up. Everytime I would decide she was mortally wounded, she would get up and walk a bit...
I know the thermometer isn't really an accurate way to measure the mhp, just tells me at a glance that the thing is still on. I was not 100% sure that the heating pad that I got did not have the auto-off feature. It's been on all day though, so it's good. Thanks.
New flock home and everybodies found food and water. Still not sure about the mama heating pad though.
Edit to add: They have names now. Chocolate, Marshmellow, Cheesecake and Cookie.
