    Saddle feathers not growing back

Sound I keep the saddles on even in this really hot summer weather?

    Saddle feathers not growing back

They are two years old. And while that's possible, I've never seen any of them peck at eachother.

    Saddle feathers not growing back

I had wondered about this, but all through winter their backs were covered, and she's broody currently so she doesn't have the opportunity to much. I've never seen her bite the others, either

    Saddle feathers not growing back

Hello! I have four chickens, and this last winter, three of them molted off their back/saddle feathers. To keep them warm, I gave them aprons which they wore all winter, but when I took them off in spring, the feathers were still missing. I haven't observed any feather picking between them...

Hen acting lethargic, eggshell stuck near vent (Picture)

Remarkably, today I went out to check on her and she is acting pretty normal. I can't even see the shell stuck to her fluff. It's only the morning, so I'll have to keep an eye on her for sure, but could she have passed the egg on her own? I'll definitely still try to give them calcium. In the...

Hen acting lethargic, eggshell stuck near vent (Picture)

Bumping this up because I haven't got any replies and am still concerned. (I hope that's allowed?) She has been staying by our waterer and not moving a lot. She has stood up and walked around slightly a few times, but didn't scratch or really do anything other than that.

Hen acting lethargic, eggshell stuck near vent (Picture)

I noticed today that my nearly 1-year-old red star, Pele, who is usually the most enthusiastic of our little flock, was hanging behind the other hens, not running to greet me and generally acting lethargic and not very responsive. When turned away from me a noticed a lot of droppings on her...

Egg laying Poll ( please check out!!!)

This was difficult because my first hen to lay (red star) was 20 weeks, but my other three matured in the winter so started/will start when the daylight comes back this spring, so I chose the last option. My only other laying currently (an Australorp) started a few days ago, at 35 weeks, which...

Hello, from a new chicken mom

So far, my red star has been the friendliest, though I've heard that hens get a little more nice once they start laying, Which she's the only one so far who has. I also like my Rhode island, which from day one was the most curious, and was willing to explore the run whine the others stayed in...

Young chicken laid two eggs without shells in the same night

Thank you for the information! Where do you get those tablets, and how much are they? Also, do you think extra calcium in general would work? I've started to grind extra eggshells for them to eat as an extra source of calcium

Hello, from a new chicken mom

I sure hope so! Austalorps look like a very sweet breed from the research I've done .So far she's been the shyest of the flock, but I'm hoping she'll be more outgoing when she starts laying

Hello, from a new chicken mom

I have a Rhode island, a red star, a black star and an Austalorp. They're all pretty young, still, and only the red star has started laying.

Hello, from a new chicken mom

This is my first year raising chickens, and I'm trying to be very careful with my little ladies, and do lots of research to make sure if that. Nice to meet you all! Also, from the template: Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? This is my first year with chickens, and I...

Young chicken laid two eggs without shells in the same night

The title says a lot of it, but this morning I had to go feed my chickens earlier than usual, and I found our only chicken currently laying standing outside, alone, even though it is very cold out. Next to her were these two eggs, laid only with membranes, no shells. This is very unusual...
