    I'm not sure about the parent breeds. I can ask my friend who the hatchery was and see what I can find out what the possibilities are. Thank you all for your responses. I was leaning towards Maran. We'll see how dark the eggs are.

    So we have a new Barred Rock that is supposed to be a 17 week old hen, but the tail feathers are fairly pointy. I'm wondering if it's just the breed or if this may be a roo. Comb isn't too large and fairly pink, not red.[/IMG]

    Here are a couple of pics of our reds at 12 weeks. The first pic is of "Cheese" and the jury is still out on whether he/she is a rooster or not. Cheese has a redder and larger comb/wattles than the other two, but not as large as I would have expected for a rooster. The second pic is of "Mrs...
