so is there hope that they may venture further once they are a bit older? Mine are about 3 months old and I am not sure how they are going to control ticks if they are always next to my house.
I can't believe all the genius people on this site and no one has figured out how to keep them off the dang porch. I too am tired of my husband nagging me because "my birds" won't stay off the porch. HELP!!
Ok so I am trying to keep my birds (chicken, ducks, guineas) off my porch. They have 5 acres to free range and they come and poop on the porch! Ugh
I have tried turning the hose on them. I just bought those ultrasonic animal repellers. They don't seem to mind them. Maybe I don't have them...
I have 4 breeds. 6 white leghorns, 6 red sexlinks, 3 Easter Eggers, 2 silkies. They all co-mingle well enough in 1 coop (8x8).
Only issues-I can't get the silkies to learn to put themselves to bed at night like everyone else. But they were never locked in coop like the leghorns and sexlinks were...
All you experienced guinea people: will guineas drink from a nipple waterer? I just put one in with my month old guinea babies. Not sure if they can figure it out
I was thinking another month before I start letting a couple out to free range. Do y'all think that's about right? I kept my chickens locked in coop for a few weeks before I let them out & they go right back in at night. But I was told the guineas would be fine roosting outside as long as they...
I just got some 4 wk old keets. I am wondering if its too late to try & make them more tame. And since they weren't babies, do you think they will still stick around when I turn them loose to free range?
You put it in a "poop box" under their roost. It is supposed to be for horse stalls. I use it. I love it. Although, I haven't tried anything else. I just scoop my poop every day and then sift it every week or two.
I bought 12 birds from TSC also in TN (Fairview) and mine where (as told by people on here) that I had Red Sexlinks and white leghorns. Look just like yours also
