Good luck! I really hope he can help. Ducks are really strong animals, and I've heard stories of them being on deaths door, and making a complete turnaround.
Just remembered, you can put some molasses in his water, if he's still drinking. It's full of good stuff, that will give him a...
He died about 2 weeks after I posted. He just got weaker and weaker, and in the end he'd only eat blueberries. I gave him probiotics, apple cider vinegar, and was grinding his duck food up into a paste to make it easier for him to eat. But he wouldn't touch it. Also tried egg yolk. I...
Sadly, my little guy passed away not long after I wrote on here. I found a ton of different remedies online and I tried them all. I even bought him a duck bra to help hold his crop up. I'm pretty sure he wasn't formed right on the inside. He hadn't absorbed any of his yolk sac when he...
Yes. We brought him inside yesterday. Gave him a warm bath in Epsom salt, and that popped him up a bit. Also ground up his food with water and put prebiotic on it. He ate quite a bit. He's still very weak though. Gonna keep him inside for awhile.
I'm still trying to find one. I've been messaging a duck farmer in the area to see if she can help or know where I can take him. The vets around me won't deal with ducks:( when you say lower down do you mean his intestines? I don't feel anything at all anywhere. I've been squeezing the poor...
I thought he had impacted crop, but I can't feel anything in there. Then today, when I checked it, it felt like a water ballon. So I leaned him forward and he threw up a ton of liquid, coconut oil and peas. I gave him some oil this morning thinking that might help. He's been getting worse...
Thanks, I'll try that. He's even worse this morning, has no energy, and just looks sad. I tried getting him to eat tomatoes with crushed garlic yesterday, but he refused. The only thing he'll eat is watermelon and peas. My husband tried feeling the crop area, and he didn't feel anything...
I've got a Pekin that I think might have an impacted crop. He's looks like it, doesn't have good balance, lays down a lot. He's looked this way most of his life, he's 10 weeks old, but I just thought he was deformed. He didn't absorb his yolk sac in the egg, and we were sure he wouldn't even...
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and would like some advice. We just hatched 4 baby ducks through our 4-H embryology program. We have 2 Pekin, 1 Khaki Campbell, and 1 unknown duck. We've decided we'd like to keep 2 ducks as pets. I'd keep all 4, but husband wouldn't go for that. So I'm trying...
